Potomac River Rockfish Charters

Rockfish, or stripers or striped bass as they are also known, are a delicacy on the table, and a sporting fish to catch.  It is a silvery fish that gets its name from the 7 or 8 lines running along its body.  They venture into the Potomac River between Maryland and Virginia as part of the Chesapeake Bay migratory population.  Did you know that they can live to be 30 years old--if they stay away from Captain Dan, that is!  In the fall, they are coming through our area on their way to winter quarters further south.  Rockfish can grow as long as 60 inches, but the fall stripers on the River will probably run in the 20s and 30s.

We recommend the late afternoon and evening trip as the most promising, but we can absolutely go looking earlier.  Each angler can keep two of these beauties, and with a live well on board we can keep them healthy.  And we can continue to catch and release.  We carry good quality Shimano and Penn gear.  We will troll and cast for rockfish, looking in all our favorite spots.

How many?  How Much?  Where?

Long Time Com'n Sportfishing is licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard to carry up to 4 anglers.

Our 4-hour charter for 1 to 4 people costs just $450.  We can also give you a price for a longer trip.  Your party charters the boat exclusively.  This includes licenses, gear, tackle, bait, and everything else you need to catch fish.  You just bring what you want to eat or drink.

Our 24-foot Nautic Star center console can launch from wherever we need to, but our "home port" for this kind of fishing is Goose Bay Marina and Campground,  Welcome, MD.
